There is a lot of HOW-TO in Internet about setting up OpenSolaris to use PPPoE, however I have spent about two days to understand why my configuration doesn't work. So here is mostly trouble shutting guide with PPPoE debugging tips.
First of all my ISP requires service field in the PADI request (PPPoE Active Discovery Initiation, RFC2516), so usual test "/usr/lib/inet/pppoec -v -i rge0" doesn't work for me. Moreover pppoec still has unfixed bug with sending service (

But now you have to download precompiled pppoec from the forum message and copy it insteand of /usr/lib/inet/pppoec (it's 32bit application, however original pppoec on my 64bit installation is also 32bit).
$ snoop -v -r -d rge0 <your_MAC>
Secondly, use any available configuration from Win, BSD or Linux from your provider (for example, FreeBSD /etc/ppp/options posted in help section of my provider's site was also very helpfull).
